[Dream Lesson] with Gediminas Grinius Report from Ishizaka Elementary School in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture
On Monday, June 10, 2024, as part of Trail Runners' SDGs project, the "National Mountain Region Future Building Project," we held a "Dream Lesson" at Ishizaka Elementary School in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, as a contribution to the local community around the venue of DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100." The lesson taught students how to turn their passion into a job while remaining in their hometown.
This "Dream Lesson" was implemented as a model project for promoting entrepreneurship education in Niigata Prefecture. Ultra-trail world champion Gediminas Grinius, who was in Japan to participate in the competition, served as the lecturer, and overall producer Matsunaga Hiroaki served as both lecturer and interpreter.
The "Dream Lesson" was held in two 45-minute periods. In the first period, Gediminas conveyed the importance of following through on what you set out to do and the sense of accomplishment by actually running together. In the second period, while watching a video, he conveyed the importance of not only relying on one's own strength but also on the strength of one's family and team in order to achieve something.
After the dream lesson, we had lunch together and enjoyed interacting with the children.
