The purpose of the DEEP JAPAN ULTRA 100 is to:

  • Make local residents aware that their hometowns are stunning places that attract people from all over the country and the world.

  • Provide both participants and local residents with an atmosphere resembling international races. To allow all involved the opportunity to engage in new exchanges, new experiences, and make new friends, while still being in Japan.

  • An aim of this event is to promote the host region by providing participants and local residents with the opportunity to experience the vast charms, culture, and environmental wonder of the host region.

In addition, in the future:

  • We aim to establish Deep Japan Ultra as one of the world's leading international competitions with an atmosphere far removed from Japan (our intention is to have participants from more than 20 foreign countries within 5 years, with more than 50 top foreign athletes participating, etc.)

  • We will Implement dream classes at local elementary and junior high schools to teach students how to live and work doing what they love while living in their hometowns.

  • We will also implement regular trail maintenance so that the more this event is held, the easier it is to use the surrounding mountain trails.

Through various projects such as these, we will contribute to human resource development, community development, and future development in mountainous areas, which account for 80% of Japan's land mass. We will provide participants, stakeholders, and locals with opportunities to change their lives for the better. For more information, please visit the race philosophy page.

And at Trail Runners, the organizers of this event, we have a mission to increase the number of people who come away from DEEP JAPAN 100 thinking, "My life has changed for the better!” Our mission is to positively impact everyone involved with this event as much as we can.

The athletes who participate in our tournament will have an absolute experience that will make them rethink their lives in the heart of vast unspoiled nature. These athletes, in turn, will give you, the volunteer, something to consider and examine in your own life. Some of you volunteers may even see yourself participating in the race in the future.

We hope to provide an opportunity for everyone involved in this event even as a volunteer to say, "DEEP JAPAN has changed my life!”.

We are searching for volunteers who agree with our aims and values and want to experience a deeper version of Japan and themselves.
